Once upon a vacation on Star Island in New Hampshire in the summer of 2002, looking over the shoulder of an artist at work, I said, "Wish I could do that!"
"You can," she replied as she handed me a pen and a piece of paper. I haven't put the pen down yet!
Traveling from Iowa to the film business in NYC, onto teaching learning disabled children, and then owning the Little Professor Book Center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, I now find myself in a cottage at the ocean’s edge in Cushing, Maine.
Learning and growing in expression is truly a magical journey. My exploration in art was just beginning with graphite sketches. Much like my grandmother’s love of tiny stitches to piece together a wondrous quilt, so is my love of dots and lines to piece together a picture. My current choice of medium is pen and ink and/or the tonal shades of graphite with splashes of watercolor as I explore such subjects as Lighthouses and Buoys, Times Past, and Life on the River. I continue to pursue my quest of becoming a competent artist and strive to perfect on canvas, or paper, the scenes that interest and surround me. I am exploring, learning and loving each step of the way . . .
